Super Foods and functional foods
These are the foods that provide additional health benefits other than providing macros (carbohydrates, protein, fats) and micros (vitamins, minerals)

So we will talk about some SUPER FOODS here......every time I will try to educate all of you about these functional foods.
So the super food for the day is WHEAT GRASS.



1. Wheatgrass
Whether you’re looking to fight free radicals or maximize the nutrients in your diet, wheat grass should definitely be at the top of your list.
Wheatgrass is prepared from the freshly sprouted leaves of the common wheat plant and can supply tons of vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium and magnesium. It also gives you some added chlorophyll, a plant pigment that’s loaded with health benefits.
Add it to juices or smoothies for a burst of energy, try it in tablet form, or even eat it raw if you’re feeling adventurous.
Some bioactive compounds present in wheat grass are

WHEAT GRASS AND CANCER
 Raising Immunity & Cancer Protection
Studies have found that wheatgrass demonstrates anti-cancer potential, and that it seems to do so through the mechanism of inducing apoptosis (self-destruction of cancerous cells). According to research done by the Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care Unit in Israel, wheatgrass can be effectively used in holistic cancer treatment programs (even those that also use conventional treatments like chemotherapy), and also for cancer prevention. Its benefits for overall immune function include regulating immunological activity and fighting oxidative stress that contributes to cell mutations.
Research shows that wheatgrass can also help attenuate chemotherapy-related side effects such as fatigue, malabsorption and deficiencies. Other than helping to prevent and treat cancer, clinical trials show that wheatgrass may induce synergistic benefits to those with other immune-related conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, haematological diseases, diabetes and obesity.

So don’t forget to add a healthy dose of wheat grass in your diet .

  Shellac   If Eve was to walk in a super-store and be spellbound    by a shiny Apple that created all the problem , she sure will find herself picking the the apple coated with Shellac. Yes you read that right , Shellac . Almost all commercially available citrus fruits are coated with it . Most of us know of Shellac as a non - toxic polish that prevents the wood from loosing moisture.   How many times as a consumer you have walked inside a grocery store or liquor store or a fast food junction and asked the question ‘Is my food ethically made?’. Conscience is an ability that distinguishes whether one’s actions are right or wrong. There are many companies that let go of their conscience and follow unethical practices , so this serves as a potential risk for the consumer. These insatiable hunger for profits often cloud the judgement of manufacturers, and this temptation leads to adulteration, or inferior quality food commodity being made.
